The DC Medicaid program provides health insurance to low-income District residents who are 65 and older or disabled. Children and families are covered by the DC Healthy Families Program. Medicaid pays by sending the payments directly to doctors, hospitals and clinics where a patient is seen. You must meet certain requirements in order to qualify for Medicaid. Medicaid can also pay your monthly Medicare premiums.
